Core match rules
Overview
These rules apply to every correspondence match on SkillGames unless a game-specific article says otherwise. Matches are turn-based, asynchronous, and validated on the server.
Objective
Win according to the rules of the game you chose. You may also win if your opponent resigns or exceeds their move deadline.
Game setup
When a challenge is accepted, the server creates the starting position. Who moves first is set at challenge creation: random, creator, or opponent. Battleships adds a fleet-placement phase first.
How to make moves
Open the match when it is your turn. Submit a legal move using the on-screen board. Illegal moves are rejected. When it is not your turn, the board is read-only.
Edge cases
Time controls
24h, 48h, or 7 days per move. Missing a deadline is a loss on time.
Resignation
Immediate loss.
